Finding Focus

I started blogging in September of 2010 as a way to chronicle my travels and be a backpacking related resource. Somewhere along the line it morphed into a completely different beast. It wasn’t just a physical journey anymore, but an internal one as well.  I like writing about travel and my adventures, but the focus is on me.

I’d rather the focus be on YOU.

I want the focus to be on you because I know you want something different too. I am motivated to jump out of my bed everyday because I’m living a fulfilling life. I want to light a fire under your ass and get you on your own quest to world domination. Maybe you want more freedom in your life to play with your kids. Maybe you want to travel the world. Maybe you want to start your own business… whatever IT is for you, I want to help you get there.

Why are we here?

In order to do that though I need to have clarity and be laser focused. I haven’t been focused on my blog and I know you’re confused. I’ve been putting it off for a while, but now it’s time to get serious and take this to a whole new level of awesome. Not only do I need some extra time, I need to hibernate and really concentrate on how I can make the biggest impact for you. So over the next 2-weeks I’m going to go into my little Jenny cave, reorganize things, and come back bigger and badder than ever. I’m ALL IN. I’ve got a huge stack of poker chips and I’m pushing them to the center of the table.

I want to be better at helping YOU. In order to do that, I need to receive some specific feedback. If you can take 3 1/2 minutes of your time to fill out this short survey I will do a little dance on my skateboard.

I invite you to write me at any time, I answer every e-mail I receive and I’m happy to help wherever I can. The stories you send me are the ones that keep me going.  In fact, I’m going to go as far as saying I want to help 1,000 people in the next year make their dream become a reality. Do you want to be part of that?

Next Monday (24th) I’m going to pop in and give you a short update to my progress. Then on January 31st prepare to be blown away. I’ve got some EPIC new content underway and I can’t wait to show it to you.

    I hear you there Jenny. Finding a focus for my blog has been on the top of my to do list ever since I have started writing again a little over a month ago. It is definitely something I think all blogs need, mine included.

    Take that well deserved break Jenny. Before I get too neuroscience and technical, I’ll just say that the brain need a break once in a while no matter how passionate a task its doing. Don’t feel too much pressure to write to us, write to yourself. I’ve always felt that when i read your posts, its like talking to a friend over coffee (or in my case, tea) ;) I hope you have tons of fun in the snow.

    I LOVE LOVE LOVE this post! You know why? Because being a blogger myself, when I search for other good blogsites, 90% of them are ME focused. Basically whoever has the blog only writes things that them and 3 people are going to understand. And I love it that you want to be audienced focused. Of course it is your blog and you will write about yourself. But you are finding ways for your blog to be understandable to people who have never met you. You’re gonna move up the blogging foodchain in NO TIME!!!!

    That’s a very interesting twist to take with a blog, but I have to admit, it makes more even more excited about your inspirations and aspirations. Although you’re looking at helping others and telling your audience about the work and acheivements of others, I think it’s important that your blogs also include how people and events make you feel. I might be being as blind as a bat, but I couldn’t actually see the survey anywhere? Looking forward to seeing an even moreinspired Jenny! :)
