After I had my Thoracic Outlet Syndrome surgery in Denver, Colorado I needed a place to stay to recover and feel at home. After researching Denver for unique hotels I decided to stay at The Curtis in downtown for 5 nights. When I look for a hotel to stay in I tend to prefer a hotel with modern decor, personality, originality, good location, and free wifi. I also like to have FUN! Unlike the majority of high-end hotels The Curtis is bursting with personality, is fun, full of color, and pays attention to the small details. Instead of a boring hotel that looks and acts just like the rest, The Curtis hotel gives you an experience to remember.

Five and Dime Store

Attention to Detail

I’m all about attention to detail because it separates the good from the great. When we arrived to check into the hotel we were greeted with warm chocolate chip cookies and an upbeat staff. The lobby featured a nice magazine area with retro games such as a giant Connect 4, Life, Monopoly, Candy Land, Boggle, Battleship, Twister, and more. A Five and Dime store with retro games, toys, and trinkets such as a giant Betty Boop pez dispenser or Etch-A-Sketch to bring back memories.

Dun Dun Dunnnnn Floor

Inside The Curtis are 16 themed floors:

The 4th Floor – Perfect Pair Floor
The 5th Floor – One Hit Wonder Floor
The 6th Floor – Fun & Games Floor
The 8th Floor – Sci-Fi Floor (the pet friendly floor)
The 9th Floor – Big Hair Floor
The 10th Floor – Floor of Champions
The 11th Floor – Chick Flick Floor
The 12th Floor – Dance Floor
The 13th Floor – Dun Dun Dunnnnn!
The 14th Floor – TV Mania Floor
The 15th Floor – Mad About Music Floor
The 16th Floor – Pedal To The Metal

Barrel of Monkeys

When the elevator stops at a floor it plays a fun quirky message that alerts you to what floor it’s stopping on. Heather (@blendhappy) and I were on the ‘Fun & Games’ floor which played arcade sounds while stating, “Come on down, you’re on the 6th floor, the fun and games floor.” Outside the elevator we were greeted with a large red monkey wall hanging from Barrel of Monkeys. Do you remember those when you were a kid? Needless to say, exploring the various floors at The Curtis was a fun and memorable time that brought back memories.

Fun Features:

  • Wake up calls.  Every morning it was a random and hilarious wake-up call from the likes of Mr. T, Elvis, Austin Powers, Darth Vader, Yoda, Marilyn Monroe, and more.
  • Fun Door Hangers stating: “Dream On” “If this sign is a-rockin’ don’t bother knockin’!” or “What it was… What it is… What it shall be… QUIET!
  • Welcome gift that includes a retro game and candy. We got Pick Up Sticks and Pop Rocks. Score.
  • “Yo Ho ho and a bottle of Rum” pirate package that included breakfast for two and tickets to the “Real Pirates” exhibit at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science. Other packages available were: Pillow Talk, Curtis Culture Club, or Are you Crazy in Love?
  • Amazing staff. The Curtis will even designate a staff member to play board games with you if you lack a partner. The staff is also always up for a round of ‘Rock Paper Scissors’ as well.
  • Dogs are welcome up to 40lbs (but they’re flexible). Inside the front entrance there is a bowl of water along with photos of all the recent 4-legged guests.

Welcome Puppies!

Our kickass comfy bed!

The Room

Our room was spacious and had a king bed with comfortable bedding. I was happy to see that The Curtis washes all of the bedding after each guest. The staff was happy to bring up extra pillows and ice as needed to make my stay more comfortable given my recent surgery. There was a nice lounge area with a couch and table as well as a desk for working. The bathroom had a large shower and shampoos from Crabtree & Evelyn. The decor was modern and had quirky photos sprinkled through out the room. Did I mention they have free wifi too?

The Curtis is great for people who want a different and unique experience during their stay in downtown Denver. Their motto is, “Stay Happy” and that we did.

Disclosure: The Curtis Hotel graciously provided us with 2 nights of accommodation, a Pirate Package, and parking during our stay. This in no way influences my review of The Curtis Hotel. We had a very positive experience and we would definitely stay there again.

Filming Flea Man

I broke up with my boyfriend, gave up my dogs, sold everything I owned, and left my apartment in December of 2010. The house in the episode was my parents where I was helping them declutter as well as getting rid of the rest of my childhood items stored there, which is what you saw on Flea Man. I’ve been on the road for 205 days traveling through the United States! Life on the road has been an epic adventure!! I’ve crossed a few more off my bucket list and met some amazing people.

As you already know the flea market was a bust. Our 6 am call time was extended to 10am, because of all the ice and snow on the roads. We didn’t even make it in time for that either because it took the entire crew over 4 hours to get to Canton (normally a 1.5 hour drive.) The van that had my items for sale flew off the road TWICE, had to get towed out, and didn’t arrive until after 1 PM. After set-up we only had a few hours to sell and shoot before we had to pack up and be out of the building before 6 PM.

In Canton at the Flea Market

In fact, I don’t think I would have made any money if it weren’t for the pull I got from having a camera crew following me around.  I baited a few interested customers by telling them if they bought something from my table they could get on National Geographic. I had about a dozen people total stop by to look at my booth. Seriously. It was that slow. I’m not sure that tactic worked though because many of them really wanted to avoid the camera. Several mentioned fear of Social Security getting word that they were there. Seriously though… who wants to drive on icy roads to go to the flea market anyways? And BTW the host Jimmy Kaplow doesn’t count!

I really wish my episode would of had a more positive ending, but I can’t control the weather. All in all it was a great experience. Not only was the crew awesome, but I realized just how much I love being in front of the camera. :] If you want to hear about how I got cast, go here.

Mapping out my route

During my 205 days traveling all through the United States on my skateboarding road trip I hit Austin, El Paso, Albuquerque, Phoenix, San Diego, Los Angeles, San Fransisco, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver (Canada), Salt Lake City, Denver, and a bunch of cities in between. So far I’ve managed to rack up 13,687 miles so far, was tear gassed at the Vancouver Riots (I was good, my hostel was right in front of the riot zone), and crossed 10 items off my bucket list.

What’s Next?

In August I’ll be heading over to Europe to partake in the Ultimate Train Challenge with 5 other bloggers racing for miles from Lisbon, Portugal to Saigon, Vietnam over 30-days. This is an insane goal to accomplish given that it’s likely well over 12,000 miles, 15 countries, and I have to deal with mishaps, train schedules, and border crossings. Not only that I intend to leave my route entirely up to my readers with one exception: Dijon, France. My sister lives there and I’d love to visit France for the first-time and see my nephews in their home country for a change.

Afterwards, I’ll be traveling in South East Asia for a while and then head over to Djibouti in Africa to visit my friend. That’s FOUR continents this year (leaving Antarctica as the only continent I haven’t hit)!  For my 30th birthday on October 13th I have something super epic planned, but want to reveal that when more details have been finalized. Trust me. It’s epic.

Rockin' the drums

Next month I’ll be launching another blog, Never North, that will help you find your passion, learn how to turn it into a business, brand it, and live the epic life you’ve always dreamed of. Fun Fact: I’ve never had a real job. I believe everyone has a skill they can market online to earn money and be their own boss. Being your own boss means you get to design your life exactly the way you want it to be. No shitty job or lame bosses around telling you what to do anymore. You’re in control.

Since you’re new here you should check out my About Me page to learn more about my story. Where is Jenny? is a travel blog focused on travel tips, inspiration, destinations, and my debauchery around the world.

Post Photos will be added in a few days. I wanted to get this post up for you guys before heading into surgery. It was meant to up Monday but it’s been a whirlwind trying to get to Denver from Seattle the past week.  In the meantime, I swiped some photos from the National Geographic website until I can get the rest up.

Yes. You heard that right. I’m going to be on National Geographic.

Flea Man is a new reality tv series on National Geographic starring flea market expert, Jimmy Kaplan. Jimmy came to my parents house back in February to help me sort through their 40 years of crap and the last of my personal belongings. We learned what was worthless or what could be a gold mine of cash then took the flea market by storm. The cash we earned went straight into my travel funds. Think Antique Road Show for Flea Markets.

My Flea Man episode is entitled, “Rock and Roll Riches” and will air either Friday July 1st at 9PM EST or Saturday July 16th, at 7AM EST. The date and airtime have changed several times already so please check your local listings to see when it airs officially in your area. If you haven’t already, sign up for my mailing list to get updated showtimes and reminders.

Dream Big

Honestly, I’m a little taken aback writing this post.  It seems surreal for this to be happening. A moment I’ve always wanted, but honestly thought was near-impossible to ever attain. I know it’s only reality tv but I used to dream of being an actress as a kid and set deadlines for my “big break.” It was always something I wanted to pursue, but never found the time for. I have “Be an extra in a movie” on my bucket list and would love to be on Survivor someday. Let’s not forget that as a travel bloggers we almost all have the dream of one-day hosting our own television show or writing a book. Hello? Sign me up.

From Garage Sale to Reality TV

My mom and I spent all of January decluttering her house and going through the remnants of my childhood belongings. Then I posted an ad for our garage sale on Craigslist. Back when I was selling off the crap from my apartment I would add, “Selling everything I own to travel the world indefinitely. Your purchase helps fund my adventure.” to every listing. The response was amazing. Not only did it spur up some great conversation people didn’t haggle with me over price.

Those two sentences on my ads went over so well in Houston I decided to add it to the garage sale ads at my parents house for our decluttering project. Instead this time, I got a very different response. It was from an interested producer in New York City searching for unique stories for a new reality tv show. I thought it was a scam. I mean really… What are the odds?

I sent him a little more detail on my back story along with my phone number. Over the next few days we exchanged e-mails and a dozen phone calls along with some forms and photographs. I remember thinking, “Wow, they’re really interested!” That was Wednesday and Thursday. Friday they sent over a camera guy to shoot a casting video for the network executivies at National Geographic. The executives have to approve the cast first and I’d know their answer by Monday or Tuesday.

I had a trip to Colorado planned to go snowboarding and skateboarding with my friend Nicole at the time. I was in the airport on Monday boarding the plane when the producer called me and told me the good news.

“You’ve been cast! We’ll be in Texas in a week.”

One-week? Wow. Things really do move fast in television! They weren’t kidding!

The producers bought me a plane ticket to return to Texas the day before we would start filming. I got to the airport on time, but life felt like throwing me a curve ball instead. Massive Snowstorm. Denver was equipped to handle the snow. Dallas was not.

Flight. Canceled.

A million thoughts flood my brain and my mind goes into overdrive trying to come up with ways to get to Texas. I can’t NOT be in Texas. An entire production crew is their waiting for me to do a show on my story. I was determined to get there even if I had to rent a car and drive.

I went up to the nearest Frontier agent to see if anything could be done. I joked that she was interfering with my ability to become famous and that if she could get me to Dallas I’d credit my entire television career to her. It must have done the trick because she put me on the flight that had the best chance of making it to Dallas… and it was the only one that did!

My mom was no longer willing to pick me up from the airport though because the roads were so bad. The roads were so bad that no taxi’s were out either. The few taxi’s that were out required to share cabs which meant for much longer rides. Lucky for me, I was the last-stop in this never-ending taxi ride around the DFW metroplex that took 3 hours.

But I made it. Exhausted. The I spent all day in an airport, plane, or taxi kind of exhausted.

Shooting a reality tv show on flea markets with an ice storm in town… what’s that? yeah. More. Rain. On. Parade. The most important part though? That it was happening regardless.

Then I woke up. It was time. I had no idea what to expect, but I was dressed and ready to go. A few minutes later a convoy of cars shows up at my parents house and within 30-minutes a dozen people are running around, cameras are being set-up, I’m being mic’d up, the lights are on, and the camera is rolling.

And I begin to tell my story.

Don’t miss it!

Flea Man: ‘Rock and Roll Riches‘ and will air either Friday July 1st at 9PM EST or Saturday July 16th, at 7AM EST.

Over the next month I’ll be posting more behind-the-scene stories and my thoughts working with reality tv. Don’t want to miss a post? Subscribe below.

This is a unique one-time only opportunity to get 22 personal development guides worth over $1,000 for just $97. The sale starts at noon (EST) Monday June 20 and crashes at noon Thursday June 23. In addition to getting the guides for 90% off, if you use my affiliate link you will get a free 45-minute design/branding consultation from me for your website via Skype. BOOM! Invest in yo’self.

Invest in Yourself

Our society places extreme importance on material wealth and monetary investments whether they be liquid, stock, or real estate. In the grand scheme of things though is this the stuff that really matters?

We are taught that our home and career are our most important assets to have. Sure your home is likely your greatest financial asset and your career will provide you with income for many years to come. But, in the end these assets don’t even come close to your greatest asset of all:  yourself.

You are valuable. Everyone around you who’s lives you touched or all the companies you’ve helped achieve great things… none of it could have been done without you.

Take a moment to think about what matters most to you. Do you want to travel the world? Start a non-profit? Spend more time with your family? Achieve something great? Pursue a hobby? How often do you get to do these things? Most people answer that question with, “not enough.”

Is your well-being worth putting off? Is that deadline, money, or job so important that you don’t have enough time to do the things you love? Whatever it is you want to be doing, find a way to make it happen. I understand that this is easier said that done, but there are many of us that have walked down that road before you. People like Leo Babauta (Zen Habits), Steve Kamb (Nerd Fitness), Benny Lewis (Fluent in 3-Months), Karol Gajda (Ridiculously Extraordinary), or Adam Baker (Man vs Debt) and others.

These are the people can help you get to the next level.

All of these people have done extraordinary things based on the things they are passionate about. We all could learn a lot from them. If you’ve been on the fence on purchasing any of their e-books this is a great opportunity to get a plethora of other great information to further yourself even more and get you closer to your end goal.

You won’t get to see your net worth go up with this type of investment, but what you do get is YOU 2.0. A new improved, YOU.

This sale will only last 72-hours and will never be repeated. Once it ends. It ends.

You get 22 great personal development products worth over $1087 for only $97. A steal. The Language Hacking Guide alone costs $67. By participating in the sale Karol and Adam will donate $5 to the Kidney Foundation. In the last 72-hour niche sale Adam and Karol generated just under 2,000 in sales and donated $33,500 towards charity.

Added Bonus: Free 45-minute Design Consultation via Skype

As an added bonus to what Adam and Karol are offering if you purchase from my affiliate link I will give you a free 45-minute Skype design/branding consultation on your website or blog. During this call we’ll talk about your goals and evaluate your website design and online brand. By placing an importance on my blog’s brand and social media presence I was able to make money my 2nd month blogging and every month thereafter. We’ll go through your website together where I’ll make specific design changes for you to implement as well as an overall branding strategy.

After you purchase the 72-Hour ‘Rock Your Life’ sale forward me your receipt and we’ll work together to schedule your Skype call.

So if you’d like to get over $1,000 worth of life-changing courses and books for over 90% off their original price then I suggest taking advantage of this offer before noon on Thursday, June 23 eastern time. Get yourself to YOU 2.0 and rock your life.

You’ll find these great products:

Hi. My name is Jenny and I fucked up.

I know it’s been a while since I last posted. Truth be told, it’s been a rough year so far. I had this image when I left my apartment in Houston that everything was going to be awesome and epic. I planned on skateboarding the best parks, writing a free ebook, working on a paid product, rebranding Where is Jenny into Never North, and taking my blog to an even higher level.

The "FleaMan" and I at Lone Star Percussion filming for our episode

Unfortunately, that wasn’t quite how things played out. Don’t get me wrong, some amazing things went down including shooting an episode with National Geographic (Watch FleaMan “Rock and Roll Riches” July 1st at 9pm EST on NatGeo)! However, when I left Houston I had to transition my pain management program to work on the road. Pain affects every aspect of my life and when not controlled is detrimental to my well-being. I can’t work or function when pain takes over. The pain I feel is nerve pain to which even the strongest pain killers are not very effective. It takes a lot out of me to try and control it leaving me feeling exhausted both mentally and physically.

After failing to adapt, I’ve decided to end my road trip after the World Domination and Travel Blogging conferences (that I just returned from) and have surgery 6-months earlier than planned. If recovery goes well I’ll be flying over to Europe to participate in the Ultimate Train Challenge from Portugal to Vietnam (more on that later) and reside in South East Asia afterwards.

Shooting guns at the range... crossing another item off the bucket list!

I was forced to remove responsibilities out of my life to focus on getting my mind, body, and spirit happy and healthy again. That meant not posting on the blog or taking on new projects to concentrate on myself. I messed up a lot of things and let some amazing opportunities slip by me, but I have to realize that it’s just part of my war against pain. You win some, you lose some.

I’m not ready to go into detail about the last few months because this journey is far from over and I need time to process everything. My surgery is scheduled for June 30th and I’m hoping the recovery time is fast and that it works to relieve the majority of my pain. I’d like to leave the story there for now. I may end up writing about it in the future, but I might not.

Jacob (sensophy.com) and I at the World Domination Summit photo booth

So where does that leave us? Where is Jenny is still going to transition to Never North and I’m working to get that done as soon as possible. Never North will still chronicle my personal journey and travels, but will also include resources for location independent creatives. My goal is to help 1,000 people break free and follow their passion. My point? I’m back. I hope everyone is happy for my return and I would love to hear your ‘voices’ in the comments below. I need to hear them now more than ever.

I’ve been working on this “comeback” post for a while actually. I’ve written over 15 different versions before deciding to quit being a perfectionist or freaking out about it and just post the damn thing. Isn’t that the advice you hear online all the time? You can sit there and tweak forever to delay or you can just jump and go for it. This is me going for it. I’m making a commitment to you because I know I have tons of value to add. All the DM’s on twitter and e-mails that you’ve sent to me, have proven that I’ve been changing peoples lives. I want to continue to do that because I want you to be ‘free’ like me. On that note, I also want to thank everyone who wrote me in my absence to let me know they’d be there when I returned. It meant so much to me.

Ready to fight

One last thing… Yesterday I was signed-up as an affiliate for Karol and Baker’s upcoming 72-hour sale that is happening tomorrow. If you remember from the last two sales these are a one-time opportunity to get over $1000 worth of e-books and courses for only $97. It’s a steal and if you’re looking to ‘Rock Your Life’ this year, these are the products to help you get there. I purchased the last one and I’ll be getting this one as well.

My battle with pain has forced me to tap into my cash reserves since I haven’t had an income in 6-months. If you plan on buying the ‘Rock Your Life’ 72-hour sale then please consider helping me out by using my affiliate link in tomorrows post. My bank account will thank-you because it’s almost empty.

I have faith that my community will step-up and give me a warm welcome back with open arms. I promise I won’t let you down.

P.S. I’d like to thank Dave and Michael for pushing me to get this post up over the last week at TBEX and WDS. Thanks guys.

My compass…is unique.”
“Unique here having the meaning of broken?”
“True enough, this compass does not point north.”
“…Where does it point?”
“It points to the thing you want most in this world.

- Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth Swann, and James Norrington

The White Pearl

It’s no secret that I love pirates. I named my graphic design business, Pirata Design, which means Pirate in Latin, Spanish, French, and others. After sailing in the South Pacific in the Alvei (known as the White Pearl to me) while volunteering in Vanuatu my obsession with pirates only strengthened. I found out that I loved to sail and it was one of the happiest times in my life. By taking control of my life I realized that being a pirate had a whole new meaning for me. It wasn’t about pillaging or plummaging, it was about being captain (in charge) of my own life.

Life’s pretty good, and why wouldn’t it be? I’m a pirate, after all. - Johnny Depp

I’ve been wanting to come up with a theme that defines me and represents what this site is about. Punk. Rock. Pirate. Always in defiance of the norm and the so called rules. Matt Gartland from Modern Audacity took my focus, descriptions, ideas, rants, and pirate theme to help me find my way. The past 2-months have been extremely difficult. I’ve had one big life event after another (good and bad) and I just couldn’t concentrate (more on that in a later post). He came up with some great options for me to choose from and I’m very happy with the result… I hope you are too. There was one common theme among them all…

Defiance (noun): Bold resistance to an opposing force.

Yup. That’s me! I’ve mentioned here before that I was forced to fit into a mold I didn’t belong in since the day I was born. I’m here to help you find your way and chart your course, just as I needed someone to help me find mine. We’ll defy the norm together!

A pirate is someone who charts their own course and takes charge of their life. Who is adventurous and doesn’t care what anyone else thinks. Someone who seizes opportunities to pursue their dreams with fiery passion. To jump into the unknown and try over and over again until they succeed. Pirates don’t spectate life… they don’t let their ship wander the seas and go wherever the current takes them… they take charge and sail with purpose.

“How can we sail to an island that nobody can find, with a compass that doesn’t work?”
“Aye, the compass doesn’t point north, but we’re not trying to find north, are we?”
-
Will Turner and Joshamee Gibbs

Jack Sparrows "Broken" Compass

Which leads me to Jack Sparrows compass… His compass never points north, but rather to the holders one truest desire, in that moment. That’s how I live life and what I believe in. It’s why I don’t really have a plan or know where I’m going to be next week. I never go north. Which leads me to the new name of my site, Never North and the tagline that goes with it: “Defying Life’s Rules and Limits in Search of Opportune Moments”

For sure, you have to be lost to find a place that can’t be found, elseways everyone would know where it was. – Barbossa

Over the next month you’ll slowly start to see changes on this blog… along with a move to a new domain name. If you’re an e-mail  or RSS subscriber you’ll automatically be transferred. The site design is roughly going to stay the same with some slight changes to the character, color, background, and logo.

The content is only going to get more epic. Because of your survey responses… Never North will feature posts showing you how to live life with purpose, utilize your passion to start a business, build an online presence, specific how-to articles, and location independent solutions.   I’ll always continue to feature updates to my own progress and life adventures…

I will no longer post on Mondays and Thursdays… pirates don’t adhere to any type of schedule anyways. However, I will dedicate myself to posting a minimum of once per week (usually on Monday or Tuesday) and more if necessary.  Enjoy your week and thanks for being part of my site! Be sure to leave your comments on the new site direction, name, and tagline in the comment section below.

This post comes to you from Colorado where inspiration flows. Life has been great here as I’ve been skateboarding some rad parks and learning how to snowboard (crossed that off the bucket list!). Yes I ate shit about a thousand times, yes I tumbled down the mountain, and yes I was sore as hell the next day. My friends would not let me start on the beginner slopes (“It’s too slow, you won’t learn!”) and took me (against my will) on the advanced mountain my THIRD RUN. I shed some tears on that mountain out of frustration, but by the end of the day I was making it down the mountain with only a few falls.  I’ve been hanging with my friend Nicole and my best-friend from high school, Ryan. They are so rad to have put up with me and shown me the ropes the past week or so.

My BFF from highschool, Ryan and I on the lift

I’ve also been working really hard here and this little retreat has brought back my working mojo. The past 6-weeks have proved to be very difficult due to some unforeseen circumstances… as in extremely shitty ones.  I’ll get more into that in a later post, but for now… let’s talk EPIC.

Hello Hollywood

My mom has agreed to take my two adorable little doggies while I jet set around the world. She asked me to stay with her and help her declutter her house before I took off.  Since it’s the least I could do, I agreed. I mean… I’m like an expert at this now right? I ended up finding a lot of my childhood crap that I didn’t even know still existed… stuff that I could make a lot of money with by selling. After 3-weeks of cleaning my mom’s house we had our garage sale (her stuff and mine). When I posted on Craigslist that I was having a garage sale to “sell everything I own to travel the world” I was contacted by a producer from a major network. A few phone calls later they sent a camera man to do a little demo video at my parents house. 3-days later, I got the call and I was cast for a tv show.

Yes, You heard that right… Jenny is gonna be on tv. How EPIC is that? I can hardly contain my excitement. Like seriously. I’m beside myself.

I start shooting THIS WEEK. (Damn shit happens fast in the tv world!) My trip to Colorado has been cut short and my road trip postponed, but no worries I’ll be back in Colorado to finish my trip and see my surgeons. Once I get everything in order, I’ll hit the road. I have until June to get to the World Domination Summit in Portland, Oregon. That’s my only hard date. I’m having a blast seeing where this spontaneous adventure will lead me, and I hope you are too.

On the damn ground, begging for mercy!

The Survey

Thanks to everyone that took my survey. The results were very eye-opening. I knew where I wanted the site to go, but was hesitant to take the full leap. You guys have given me the confidence to go there by backing what my thoughts were. Thank you for that. I have found my focus the last two weeks, but I haven’t found the right words. I’ve been working with Matt at Modern Audacity to wordsmith my message into a pretty little package for you. However, it’s not ready yet (as I mentioned last week).

The kind words you guys all wrote me in what you love about my site kept me going during one of the most difficult and nerve racking times of my entire life.  I came back to the words you guys wrote so many times over the last 2-weeks. It wasn’t anything more than to lift me back up and get me to refocus on what really mattered. Words can’t express the deep gratitude I have for everyone that took the survey. Thank you so much.

One of my questions in the survey was, “What can I personally, help you with in your life/business?” Many of you answered this with a very specific task that I would like to fulfill. However, because the survey was anonymous I have no way to contact you or know who wrote what. If you were one of these people then please send me an e-mail at: jenny [at] whereisjenny [dot] com and I’ll do my best to fulfill your wishes. I have to write my e-mail like that because when I don’t I get about 500 messages of spam per day… and that ain’t cool. Sorry for the annoyance. I answer every single e-mail so feel free to write me at anytime.

Killin' the Mountain (or the Mountain Killing me?)

I’m so flattered that so many of you are interested in my personal journey. I will continue to deliver on that, flaws and all. I got a lot of requests for an ebook and I must say, that is definitely in the works. However, I want to reiterate that the core purpose of my site is not to make money, it’s to change your life. I have a graphic design business that I’ve run for 8-years that provides the majority of my income. I do make a small amount from this site via affiliates and occasionally promote things, but nothing to write home about.

This site is going through a transitional period, as is my life and business so you can just imagine how crazy things have been. I will continue to update you on my progress and by next week will unveil the greatness Matt and I have been working so diligently on.

Until then, Keep Rockin’

In my survey over 70% of you mentioned that you were interested in travel. So for all you travel lovers I’m about to blow your mind away with travel awesomeness… and help you travel the world with 4 free plane tickets per year with only 30 minutes of work each month! For everyone else you can move along to a different post or delete this e-mail. :)

Join the Travel Hacking Cartel

Chris Guillebeau has announced his Travel Hacking Cartel with an insane guarantee… 1 plane ticket every 3 months. I’m a HUGE fan of Chris’s work because he goes full throttle in everything he does. Simply, his stuff is awesome.  This a dream for us backpackers racing around the world on a budget… who wants to pay for airfare? Hello? I don’t. I purchased the Frequent Flyer Master and personally used the techniques mentioned in the guide to get my frequent flyer balance with American Airlines to 160k.

This stuff has worked for me and it can work for you.

The only Frequent Flyer building technique I used before this product was a credit card with Citibank. The more techniques I added, the faster my account balance went up. I used Frequent Flyer miles to pay for my roundtrip ticket to South America and some internal flights during my 5-month backpacking adventure in 2009. Total Cost: $0 I will use my current miles to get my international trip to SouthEast Asia/Europe/Central America after my USA skateboarding road trip. If your like me, you don’t like getting new credit cards to attain miles. Okay, maybe you have shitty credit due to a plethora of medical bills from a car accident too. I need other ways to pad my mileage account!

I plan to never pay for another international plane ticket again. I want you to have the same opportunity as I do. But you have to act quick.

Chris is only allowing the first 1,000 members in initially. After that you must be referred by another member of the cartel in order to join. This is a HUGE perk since you’ll be able to earn 500 miles for each friend you refer to sign up as well! Chris has put a lot of thought into the systems for this product and I must say, it’s brilliant.

Hey everyone, just dropping in to let you know what’s going on from the Jenny Cave! I’ve begun the process to define my core purpose and have enlisted fellow pirate Matt Gartland to help me! While, I hope to meet my deadline of January 31st it may be delayed due to unfortunate circumstances. I really want to launch on that date, but due to a catastrophic recent event in my family it may be prevented.

At the very least, I want to have defined my focus in a way that is very clear to you… I want the right people to find a home here.  I know why my site is here and that is the most important aspect, but I haven’t been able to communicate that core purpose to you. I’m figuring that out though and the process is moving along. However, once that is defined the changes won’t take place on launch, they’ll be slowly implemented over the subsequent weeks.

Later this evening I leave for Colorado to cross snowboarding off my bucket list. I’m STOKED! If anybody is going to be in the Denver/Copper/Boulder area, please give me a shout-out! If there is enough interest we’re going to have a meet-up of some sorts.

The survey results have been AMAZING. Thank you for taking time out of your day to complete the survey.

If you haven’t already, please take my survey here.

Over 80% of you are interested in my personal journey and I intend to deliver! I’m so happy to announce that several opportunities have opened up and I can’t wait for the official word.  Stay tuned for some mind-blowing awesomeness.

My site is here to inspire and help you live life to the fullest, whatever that means to you. For me, it means traveling the world. I’m a huge advocate for Chris Guillebeau’s products because several of his products have personally helped me the last 6-months. One of those products is the Frequent Flyer Master. If you’re a budget backpacker like me you don’t like paying for flights! Using miles is how I paid for my airfare to/from and within South America during my 5-month backpacking trip there. Why am I telling you this? Because if your dream is to travel, like mine, then I think you’ll really benefit from Chris’s new product the Travel Hacking Cartel… and it launches tomorrow! It’s the world’s greatest alert service for anyone who wants to experience the world on a budget.

I’ve been chosen to be one of the affiliates for the Travel Hacking Cartel. The first 1,000 people will be able to sign-up, but after that, you can only get in by a referral from an existing member. If you want to support Where is Jenny? and are interested in the Travel Hacking Cartel, then I ask that you check back tomorrow (Tuesday) and use my affiliate link to sign up for the 14-day trial. Chris believes in his product so much that he has an INSANE guarantee in store for you. I’m making a special post for it on Tuesday because I believe this product will help make travel more accessible for you. If you’re not interested, just delete the e-mail or ignore the post. I know it’s not right for everyone. Either way, thanks for supporting my site and I hope you have a fantastic week… I know I will!

If you haven’t already let me know your thoughts, please take my survey here.

I started blogging in September of 2010 as a way to chronicle my travels and be a backpacking related resource. Somewhere along the line it morphed into a completely different beast. It wasn’t just a physical journey anymore, but an internal one as well.  I like writing about travel and my adventures, but the focus is on me.

I’d rather the focus be on YOU.

I want the focus to be on you because I know you want something different too. I am motivated to jump out of my bed everyday because I’m living a fulfilling life. I want to light a fire under your ass and get you on your own quest to world domination. Maybe you want more freedom in your life to play with your kids. Maybe you want to travel the world. Maybe you want to start your own business… whatever IT is for you, I want to help you get there.

Why are we here?

In order to do that though I need to have clarity and be laser focused. I haven’t been focused on my blog and I know you’re confused. I’ve been putting it off for a while, but now it’s time to get serious and take this to a whole new level of awesome. Not only do I need some extra time, I need to hibernate and really concentrate on how I can make the biggest impact for you. So over the next 2-weeks I’m going to go into my little Jenny cave, reorganize things, and come back bigger and badder than ever. I’m ALL IN. I’ve got a huge stack of poker chips and I’m pushing them to the center of the table.

I want to be better at helping YOU. In order to do that, I need to receive some specific feedback. If you can take 3 1/2 minutes of your time to fill out this short survey I will do a little dance on my skateboard.

Please take my survey! :)

I invite you to write me at any time, I answer every e-mail I receive and I’m happy to help wherever I can. The stories you send me are the ones that keep me going.  In fact, I’m going to go as far as saying I want to help 1,000 people in the next year make their dream become a reality. Do you want to be part of that?

Next Monday (24th) I’m going to pop in and give you a short update to my progress. Then on January 31st prepare to be blown away. I’ve got some EPIC new content underway and I can’t wait to show it to you.

Please take my survey! :)
